Grilled Lobster

February 1, 2017

So, it’s been awhile.

I posted on Instagram that I was going to be taking a break for the month of January to kind of figure some stuff out for this blog. But to be completely honest, I’ve been so busy trying to make My Southern Sweet Tooth better than ever! It’s been a crazy month – I’ve been pre-writing blog posts, making SO many new recipes, and I’m back! Y’all might have noticed the new and updated blog (yet again), and that’s because I switched to WordPress. Unfortunately my other theme was Blogger-only, so I had to get a new one to fit this blog!

I’m also going to try to stick to a schedule, like I did when I first started. I started by posting once every week on Thursdays, but I kept making recipes and whatnot at the very last minute, and that just completely threw me off. I want to post at least twice every week, maybe more, but I’m still working on that.

The point is, I’m back and I’m planning on sticking around for a bit :)

Today, I’m going to be sharing a Valentines-day inspired grilled lobster recipe. How does this relate to February 14th, you might ask? Well, lately I’ve been obsessed with the TV show Friends and after watching the famous “She’s Your Lobster” scene, every time I think of anything love related I think of lobsters! Weird, I know. But hey, it’s delicious and I’m not complaining.

Also note that it’s not lobster season right now, so the ones I purchased from Whole Foods were pretty expensive. If you’re reading this during the June – December season, then they should be cheaper and a lot meatier.

I’ve learned that grilling any sort of meat takes pretty minimal ingredients, just because the natural flavors of whatever you’re grilling are already there! Like for this lobster, you could sprinkle on some salt and pepper and I’m sure it would be super tasty. But I decided to go a little bit extra, because why not?

I hope y’all enjoyed!

Grilled Lobster

  • 3 4 oz lobster tails
  • 1 1/2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp paprika
  • 3/4 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  1. Set grill to high heat.
  2. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, paprika, thyme, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  3. Using a pair of sharp scissors, cut down lengthwise through the bottom shells of the lobster tails, and brush the side with the butter mixture. Sprinkle with a little extra salt, pepper, and lemon juice.
  4. Place on the grill and cook until the shell is bright red, about 5 minutes. Flip them over and cook for another 5 minutes until the meat is thoroughly cooked.
  5. Serve on a bed of greens, or asparagus and rice. Enjoy!

Do y’all have any plans for Valentine’s Day?
